About Us

Thank you for visiting Ki Antiques.

I've been involved with Asian antiques, primarily Japanese items, for over 30 years.

I've greatly enjoyed this field of endeavor, and have had the opportunity to visit Japan many times to explore, study, and hunt up interesting old items.

My travels in Japan have usually centered around Kyoto, one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the world. It is also one of the major antique centers in Japan.

In addition to the study and appreciation of Asian art and antiques, I've also always been engaged in the repair and restoration of the old items acquired in Japan, and still get a lot of satisfaction seeing old, worn, faded pieces regain their lost beauty and spirit.

I have always tried to preserve the natural look and feel of the items; for instance, not sanding wooden pieces whenever possible. The top surface of the wood - the weathering, the wear, the little flaws, the patina - carries much of the uniqueness, history, and natural beauty of the item.

I look forward to hearing from you, and what you may be looking for, thinking about, or  wondering about.
