#4185 Collection of five tea bowls (chawan): 1) Deep bowl form, with thick, very dark brown glaze, lighter around rim, several unglazed spots on sides; somewhat heavy body, unglazed base and foot; pine needle signature on base. Excellent condition. 5"diam x 3.5"h.
2) Brown glazed tea bowl, with light blue hare's fur drip glaze over rim; lightweight delicate form with silver-gold rim, slightly flared; base and foot unglazed, with tiny impressed two-character seal on bottom. Excellent condition. 5"diam x 2.75"h.
3) Traditional form tea bowl, with thin off-white glaze over pinkish clay body; body with soft horizontal grooves and swirl in bottom from hand forming on wheel; partially unglazed thick foot with dark brown underglaze splotches; and signature on bottom in dark brown glaze. Excellent condition. 5"diam x 3"h.
4) Large rustic brown glazed tea bowl, a little glaze dripping on sides, with a pleasant, slightly rough appearance and feel; summer tea bowl form, sides flared out; thin body with soft handformed circular grooves. Heavy glazed foot with inscribed signature on bottom. Very good condition (with several very tiny glaze fritters around rim). 5.75"diam x 3"h.
5) Thick provincial summer tea bowl, with a sparce avo-brown glaze brushed and streaked a darker brown around the top edge, inside and out. Outside mostly unglazed, no signature. Excellent condition. 5.75"diam x 2"h.
