All cypress with ornate etched bronze fittings, very complete. Very old hand painted scroll of deity inside. The roof will lift off the cabinet.
One large "horn" replaced (right rear) (painted wood), several small wood bits replaced. Several railing pieces have been glued back into holes (original pieces).
Shinto is the ancient native religion of Japan, preceding Buddhism. Shinto beliefs embraced many deities representing the natural world. Shinto shrines are always natural wood, as opposed to the more ornate Buddhist temples. Shinto also incorporated many Buddhist deities when they arrived in Japan from China.
