#1503  Large antique futon cover (futonji), stencil dyed (katazome), indigo cotton fabric. Beautifully detailed, repeating pattern of circular stork and turtle designs, both symbolic of long life, with a background of swirling vines.

          The fabric has its design on one side; very faint on the back. Two very small, old boro patches on one edge, one tiny hole, very minor staining; otherwise good condition. Medium weight, strong, sturdy material.

           Medium dark indigo blue, slightly faded overall. Made of three panels. 38"w x 60"h. C.1910 . . . $390
